From Design File to Finished Foam Part

A compact 5-axis CNC hot wire foam cutter for prop shops, sculpture studios and prototyping teams. Cut finished foam parts or rough out blocks for carving.

File to Form in 3 Steps

  1. Load File

Import a DXF drawing or a 3D model (STL or OBJ) into FROGShape software, which creates the cut path for you.

  2. Cut

Place the foam block on the table and start the cut from the hand-held pendant. The heated wire and rotary table follow the path automatically.

  3. Finish or Revise

Lift the part off the table, ready to coat or carve. Need a change? Adjust the file and recut it the same day.

Why Bring Cutting In-House

More Control Over Your Work, Your Schedule and Your Costs

Cut Lead Times

Parts made in your own shop don't wait on outside fabricators or shipping. When a client changes a design, you can adjust the file and recut it the same day.

Get Consistent Parts

Hand-cut parts vary from one person to the next. The FROGWire™ 4x4 cuts from a digital file, so every part matches the design without relying on one skilled hand-cutter.

Take On New Work

5-axis motion cuts tapers, transitions and round parts that are hard or impossible to cut by hand. That opens up new products and new clients.

Reduce Outsourcing Costs

Stop paying outside fabricators for parts you can make yourself, and keep confidential client designs inside your shop.

It cuts EPS, XPS and EPP foam. PE, EVA and polyurethane foams can often be cut too, depending on their density. Because foam properties vary between suppliers, we're happy to run a test cut on your material.

The 4x4 has a 62" × 66.3" footprint and stands 74" tall. It runs on a standard 110V, 15A single-phase outlet, so no special wiring is needed.

No. Every 4x4 includes two full days of onsite installation and training from FROG3D®'s own team, plus ongoing in-house technical support.

The machine with its rotary table, an industrial G-code controller with hand-held pendant on a mobile cart, FROGShape 2D and 3D software (subscription-based), and two days of onsite installation and training.

The 4x4 uses the same components as the 8x8 in a smaller frame. Its cutting area is roughly 4 ft × 4 ft (50" × 52" × 53.5"), which suits shops that want 5-axis hot wire cutting without giving up a lot of floor space.
